As Towerstream continues to evaluate the broadband stimulus and its application process, I decided to attend one of the NTIA’s workshops last week to get the latest information, straight from the source. The organization has actually been hosting these workshops across the country in the past few weeks to ensure that the application process is as clear as possible, but when we went to one of the first meetings a few weeks ago, several unresolved questions remained unanswered.
This workshop, however, proved to be a great resource for us. I took the opportunity to ask NTIA representatives a few questions about the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program (BTOP) and the application process, and was pleased with the clarity and quality of their answers.
Something else that struck me about the event was the range of people in attendance. Everybody, from smaller city government officials to representatives of big organizations like the Gates Foundation, were in the audience to learn more about the program. It’s great to see organizations of all sizes looking to get involved in broadband proliferation.
Thanks to the NTIA for hosting these workshops, and for taking steps to ensure this process is a smooth one for everyone involved.
Have you attended any other the NTIA’s workshops? Feel free to share your feedback on the event. Were any particularly interesting issues or questions raised?
